[LIFE AS I KNOW IT] garden plot, week one

Last night we went down to our garden plot to clean it up and start planting. We have be renting a garden plot from The Garden Path Society for 3 years now - we started as total rookies and now seem to kind of know what we are doing. Either that or we are getting good at pretending!

We pulled all the weeds out and planted a few rows. So far we have out peas, radishes, beets, carrots, pattypan squash and beans in. I also planted some marigolds, lavender and wild flowers. We are going to wait a few mores weeks before we put the lettuce in as Alberta's weather is somewhat unpredictable this time of year...

here is our plot, #75 before we did anything...

after a good water we left this little gnome behind to watch over things :)

There is one other detail to be discussed this year...my parents have their own garden plot for the first time so it is competition time ;) We have yet to decide on what will be our deciding veg, but I will keep you posted on how badly we are beating them, lol.

Any other gardeners out their? Have any tips to share?

  1. Love the garden gnome! And what is pattypan squash? Never heard of this variety. And now to watch it grow.
